Touched And Humbled

I don’t normally post on the weekends, but I just got the nicest note from Tri-state Basset Hound Rescue thanking me for all the contributions sent on behalf of Carmela.

It’s been a sad time for me since she’s gone.  Knowing she’s in a safe, loving home with people who truly want her has helped me heal more than I can say…but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t achingly miss her.

But what really moved me more than anything were all of you.

It’s hard for me to ask for help, but when I did you heeded the call.

I had also asked several friends to make a donation.  My feeling was, it would be great to make up whatever they had to spend taking care of her those three weeks.

Amy, Chris, Ed, Hal, Joan, MJ who I’ve known forever, all responded favorably.  Only three people I felt were friends did not.  One woman I let off the hook because she does so much for animals…even adopted a three-legged cat.  But the other two with great surprise I might add, disappointed me greatly.

They both have tons of money and happen to be huge animals lovers.  One in particular said, when I asked if he’d give a few dollars, “I don’t think I will,” as he spent the afternoon condo shopping.  The other guy who’s also pretty flush, has a money issue.  Well off, more than able to be generous, but to put it in a nutshell, he’s just plain cheap.

What made me want to cyberly genuflect is the generosity that came from a bunch of individuals I’ve never even met…you know who you are, and the way you opened your heart for me and Carmela will never leave mine since you’ve made it beat louder and stronger.

So on behalf of Tubes, Tri-state, and myself, our graces to you.   get-attachment-1 Summer of last year.

  5. Can I get an AMEN for this burst humanity? Tubes deserves to be living the hound dog dream of running in open spaces with her nose to the ground, so happy to hear her dreams came true and yours too!
    Money well spent!
