I am annoyed at so many people at the moment, I want to write and tell them so…scream on the page like a banshee with a pen.
Makes me think of Abraham Lincoln who wrote many angry missives, he smartly, never sent. There’s a famous one toย George McClellan, one of his four general-in-chiefs, for refusing to fight, and another to General George Meade for not chasing Lee’s army after the north held the ground at Gettysburg.
Both unsent.
Would love to know how many more they found in his desk drawer after he died. ย I’ll bet they could have wallpapered.
I just wrote one to a production company refusing to pay me, and another to a friend who let me down, both cooling like burnt pies in my desk drawer where they’ll stay unposted, just like Lincoln’s.

Spoken like a writer! The cathartic release of ink on page can’t be beat.

Always loved the word cathartic. Scholar’s term for upchuck.

I’ve never heard “upchuck” before. Obviously I’m a scholar! ๐

Would you prefer regurgitate? I think upchuck is snappier. ๐

Oh how good it must feel to unleash those thoughts without the fear of going to prison. You and Abe are two smart cookies.

Love the prison line. But how they smolder.

Susannah, I immediately had the Moody Blues’ phrase ‘Letters I’ve written, never meaning to send’ in my head. They were my favorite group during my college years,
I think you should mail a toned down letter to the non-paying production company. Don’t they know a thin girl needs to eat?

People in the film business have no integrity anymore. It’s wild. I’m about to go to the Screen Actors Guild to put in a claim. Was trying not to do that, but they leave me no choice. sigh…so time consuming and it doesn’t even mean I’ll be paid…it’s just the next best action, as they say in 12 Step. Oh Skinny…trials and tribulations of a Thingirl.

That was my thought. Put the friend letter in a drawer but take some action to get paid. After all you got up and did what they wanted!

Great idea …. I definitely need to do this. ๐
One year, I made a New Year’s resolution to keep an empty jar in the kitchen and add to it something positive everyday. Maybe, I should get a box to add the 100’s of letters I want to write to people and situations that drive me insane. ๐ณ๐
Originally, I started my blog to expel my frustrations and within 2 posts changed it to a positive place. I feared being thought of as insane. But, people can make you go there.
Hope it all turn out well with your salary. Praying for ya ๐

I write those letters to take it from my head onto the page to hopefully be free of it. It doesn’t always but it does lessen the frustration. Lincoln, can you imagine what he went through? Aye.

He had a tough life from all of the books I’ve read. He kept the paper industry going. : ) I used to write in diaries but with laptops I just expel my frustration and save. Paper and pencil in hand seems much more powerful and in control. Oh, well … and … life goes on. Have a Super Friday. ๐

He was married to a lunatic who embarrassed him with her maniacal spending. He had a cabinet, who grew to love him, initially hate him. If you haven’t, check out Team of Rivals, the Kearns book the film Lincoln was taken from. He lost two children..sigh. And we mustn’t forget good old, who was only in his 20s…double sigh…John Wilkes Booth, stalking him like a confused, crazy hawk. Yes. Abe didn’t have it easy. No sir-re.

Always a good idea to vent and then reread before sending or even not sending. I have written many things and tossed them. I have also sent some I wish I had read again and tossed. Wow…
Glad you have patience to think…

To Isadora. Don’t save. Then all that frustration festers. Send it into the ethers where it belongs. I, after a week, shred mine. It’s a pity Abe didn’t have a shredder.
