I Got You Covered

My friends, Ed and Evelyn, have a great, long term marriage, and frankly, the only one I know of.

There’s the woman who, after 14 years, hates her husband so much, her goal is to have her own bedroom.

Another lady drinks right before her man comes home because she can’t stand the sight of him, as if she’s married to a Smurf.

But back to Ed and Evelyn who actually like each other, still share the same bed and take care of the other.

For instance…Evelyn places Ed’s pajamas…his Brooks Brothers specials…on the radiator while he takes a shower, so they’re warm and toasty when he puts them on.

I just love that she does that, so when Ed, a retired furniture maker who occasionally makes an reappearance in wood, told me he was making new radiator covers, I immediately thought…but what about warming your pajamas?

You can’t possibly be giving that up for aesthetics. I mean, get real.

Yeah I know, Susannah, get a life, but that gesture of hers has always stayed with me.

It proves a union, even if it’s decades old, can still flourish, with affectionate, in every season.

I need to ask Ed about the future of his PJs.

Or maybe I should speak to Evelyn, undercover.

About Susannah Bianchi

I'm just a girl who likes to write slightly on slant. I've had a career in fashion, dabbled in film and to be honest, I don't like talking about myself. Now my posts are another matter so I will let them speak for themselves. My eBooks, A New York Diary, Model Behavior: Friends For Life and Notes From A Working Cat can be found on Amazon.com. Thanks.

  1. What an ending to your story! I laughed that you might speak to Evelyn under cover. That is sweet, that she warms his pajamas.

This is Ed; don’t panic, I built a special louvered top on the bathroom cover so my jammies will still be toasty.

  3. Nothing says “love ya” like warm jammies.
Evelyn should teach a class on, “Warming Your Man’s Heart One Pair Of PJ’s At A Time.”

Well Susannah, I guess that this means there is hope. Not that I will have that long of a marriage, but that one can connect and really meet and share a truly mutual caring partner. Bravo to the E’s for the love they share!!! And thank you for once again putting a smile on my face. Namaste

  6. Perhaps, he no longer wears them? 🙂 Just that evil part of me (though I don’t believe in evil)

My waistline bears witness to all the little acts of love my principessa performs for me.

That’s so touching, Susannah. A radiator cover can still be warmish.
When heading up to bed at night, Pookie always holds his hand out to help me out of my chair. I can assure you I have no trouble getting up, but at night I sit and wait for his hand before hopping up. He does this at restaurants too.
