We Have Risen

I’ve always loved Easter Sunday ever since I was a kid. Was it the chocolate, my new patent leather Mary Janes, or the ceasefires my parents called actually speaking to one another.

I can still see the lilac peeking from my mother’s garden above their neighbors, the irises, perhaps exchanging gardening tips.

My grandfather decorated the yard by hauling his rosemary plants down from the attic to greet all guests, their aroma luring you in. Even Fluffy, the cat, wore a robin’s egg blue ribbon in her gray, furry hair.

I like when Passover and Easter collide since they’re both such happy holidays.

You don’t have to be religious to participate in either, but it is the start of a new season after all…a rebirth….and that goes for us too.

Don’t be surprised if you see Spring, the little show off, sashaying in her Easter bonnet.

A lovely day for all.

About Susannah Bianchi

I'm just a girl who likes to write slightly on slant. I've had a career in fashion, dabbled in film and to be honest, I don't like talking about myself. Now my posts are another matter so I will let them speak for themselves. My eBooks, A New York Diary, Model Behavior: Friends For Life and Notes From A Working Cat can be found on Amazon.com. Thanks.

And a lovely day to you too, Susannah. I can’t wait for our beautiful grandson to come and see what the bunny left at Nana’s house. Next year our granddaughter will be old enough to participate. I tried not to overdo the chocolate too much. Of course I bought them each springish outfits for the warm weather around the corner.
A fresh start is a great idea. I’ve been ill most of the time since Christmas and have minor surgery scheduled. Here’s to a healthy spring and summer and fall. Winter can take a hike.

  2. We were talking about this last night. Easter was my favorite holiday even more so than Christmas. Starting on Good Friday there were a lot of church things going on — Stations of the Cross, blessing of the food and Easter itself plus the family rituals of food, dyed eggs, pickled red beets, special cheese. All happened just one a year. Oh yes, there was the fabulous new spring outfit with patent leather shoes! Happy Easter Susannah!

  3. There was nothing better than the fanciness of Easter as a child. Hats, gloves, purse, shoes and of course, Bunny Ears!
Hope you had a lovely day!
