Couple’a Cats Sittin Around Talkin

I’m here with Patrick the Cat, listening to the news. We often have coffee together after finding him patrolling the hallway like a furry Pinkerton Guard.

This morning he was playing with a waterbug the size of a hockey puck who must have been so happy to see me since, after scooping him up in a napkin flushed him safely away. I never kill anything if I can help it, and figured, he probably swims, being a waterbug and all.

Patrick didn’t mind since he knew milk was in his future.

We’ve been discussing the virus, both thinking it’s starting to have a Spielberg feel to it like a remake of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, a favorite movie of ours.

I asked him if he’s been washing his paws, something he found amusing. “I’m a cat, I always wash my paws, among other things.”

“Yes of course Patrick, I’m still a little sleepy so you’ll have to excuse me.”

“You’re the one I’m worried about. Are you washing yours?”

“Yes, I’ve been good about it, even though my hands are dryer than Hazel’s.”

“Who?”

“Never mind. I know it’s early, but how bout a sardine to go with that milk?”

“Now you’re talkin, but make you sure you wash your hands first. A cat’s gotta be careful.”

“I understand.”

  1. I loved your conversation with Patrick. Is he allowed the run of the building, or does he stay on your floor?

My white Persian, Fuzzy Face, likes to be held like a baby while getting his tummy rubbed. He wraps his paws around my wrist so his spa treatment doesn’t end too soon. In the morning I give him 1/2 can of Fancy Feast Savory Centers and have to stroke his back a few times before he eats. I should have named him The Little Prince.

Love this Pat Cat…a steady, no less! We rescued a gorgeous Calico who loved hunting rabbits. Later we adopted a Ragdoll who was also gorgeous. Both gals loved crawling into my bed when they roused in the early morning. Before cuddling under the cover they had this thing of parking on top of me and staring me awake! They were sparkling clean gals.Cats are somethin’ else…like wonderful.

This is ace! Love the fact you talk to your cat! Makes me feel less daft talking to my Dog and expecting a response.

“a furry Pinkerton” – hahaha! They do like to own the place, don’t they? At least Patrick is happy to dish out some sensible advice. Cleanliness is next to kibble and milk.

    • He’s a dead ringer for Morris, with paws the size of baby feet. He gets out of the apartment and strolls around. Since I know this, I look for him, and more often than not, there he is, like the Secret Service. He makes me grin from ear to ear. Nothin like a kitty cat, especially one who more or less behaves. 🙂

Susannah, I had a good laugh after I read about Pat and the giant water bug…I walked into my kitchen, turned on the light and what do I see but a giant black water bug bellied up on the floor. Alas, no cat in sight. Had a great laugh though. FYI – I didn’t kill it, guess it died of natural causes!
