Wow! You hit him between the eyes!! You actually affected his behavior the next day! Amazing!

He’s the cheap ogre with a marshmallow center. It’s an interesting combo.

I hope he never has a meltdown.

You said it. We’d all look like Hostess cupcakes. 🙂

With swirly icing?

Of course. Would a Hostess Cupcake be one without it. God, I love’em.

I haven’t had a Hostess Cupcake in years. There are so many temptations in the stores!

I’ve heard it recommended that, if you’re going to eat something sweet, make sure it’s something great, like Creme Brulee or a 5 star chocolate cake. Of course, one can argue in favor of Oreos and Snickers. 🙂

At first that sounded like good advice, but we rarely have great desserts. Well, duh, Anne! That’s the point! I think we’ll just keep on doling out small portions of humdrum sweets as a maintenance diet.

I understand having Lorna Dunes in a plastic container under my bed. 🙂

We get out German lebkuchen every evening. We’re doing well so far, not gaining weight yet.

Nothing like a sweet in the evening. 🙂

I was reading this on my phone, so the picture filled the screen. Instantly I said to myself, “That looks just like crumb coffeecake from Entenmanns.”
A bit of New York rubbed off on me from the 45 years I lived on LI.

It’s a working man’s favorite cake to have with his coffee. And some women’s too.

John used to buy it for Sunday breakfast. I got so tired of it that I ate something else. He finally changed to bagels or donuts every other week.

Nothing like a good bagel, especially on a Sunday. 🙂

We always bought bags of bagels to bring back whenever we went to NY. We haven’t been there since January a year ago.

Thank you, but I think we’ve learned to live without them. There are reasonable substitutes here in the mountains.

If you change your mind, but you know Anne, nothing compares to a bagel. I’m sorry.

I agree with you. We’re in a sorry state of affairs.

Better than having one, I suppose.

Good for you Susannah. And good for Tony. Once he had a chance to think about it, he did the right thing. And that’s what counts. But you’re the one that caused him to think. You, my friend, are a catalyst!
That could be a new superhero name – The Catalyst for Good. We certainly need one about now!

Good for you, Norma. Tony and Diago learned a lot about symbols of kindness. I haven’t had Entenmanns since we left the West Coast. Safeway used to carry it, but none to be found in Texas. Pop it in the oven briefly, and you would think someone spent the night baking. Thanks for the memory.

Was just reading all your back quotes on Twitter. One’s better than the next. I found them powerful and comforting after yesterday’s siege on such hallowed ground. Not feeling too well.

I am sick about the mess there. We deserve better as a nation.

I’m really affected, more than I have ever been about anything in the past accept for September 11th.

To see those goons desecrate the chamber was very upsetting. Definitely not my kind of people.

If you can, read Peggy Noonan’s Saturday Op-ed. If you give me an email address, I’ll can send it since I get it early. It’s a stellar piece on what happened and what must be done.

I love how you say your piece and stand your ground without being unreasonable. That takes strength and courage. It also can change minds, actions, and attitudes. 😼

Don’t make a hero of me. I’ve known him a long time so , sassing him didn’t take much. I’m a little off because of what occurred in Washington yesterday. I really shouldn’t have posted at all.

I’m very upset about what happened at the Capitol yesterday, and too emotional to even write about it…hence…a silly post.

Sometimes silly is exactly what we all need.

Yeah, maybe. Good point Mark.

I’m glad to have your story as a distraction from the pain felt by yesterday’s Capitol insurrection riot.

It didn’t really help. I may need to write about since, I just can’t shake the upset. Thanks.

Love this!
Years ago, when I first started work at a small bistro, I began to bring a cup of coffee to the dishwasher at the start of my shift, being that it’s such a crappy job to do and you’re stuck in the back. Well, the guy never said thank you. Not once did he acknowledge me or even give a nod as I handed the cup to him. I gave it three tries, then stopped. When the other server found out, she laughed and said he treated her the same way. lol!

I understand buy ya know, Clever Girl, receiving is in the giving so, if it made you feel good then it didn’t much matter what it did for him. Giving rocks. 🙂

That’s true. But it stopped feeling good after the third time 🙂

There is no better name for a pasty than coffee cake. I cannot have the stuff WITHOUT coffee, seriously. And you know when I’m in the mood for coffee cake? Whenever I’m having coffee, that’s when. No other time, just then.
You represent for those who would otherwise never know the pleasures of coffee cake. So please tell me your friend has learned his lesson?

I have found the cheapest coffee cake, is the best having been weaned on it, and Anthony aka Tony, does have a Democratic side to his Italian so, with a little patience, there’s also, a little hope. 🙂

I get this insanely good coffee cake from a small bakery downtown whenever I go to Central Market. Not sure the name of the bakery because I buy it through this deli that has a stand in market and she sells it for them. It’s not an every time thing, it’s catch as catch can. But it’s a homer.

Something as simple as that is what we’re all about. Nothing fancy. I’m not a croissant lover myself…give me a slice of sugar dusted cake or a buttered roll, and I’m good. Oh yeah, and an IV of coffee in my arm. 🙂

The IV coffee . . what a great idea. I’m going on Shark Tank. Wanna come?

Nothing silly about calling out a knuckle-dragging cretin. Kudos. While I am loathe to the whole notion of the ‘cancel culture,’ I do feel it’s appropriate to call out stuff like that. That’s just decency, right? It’s kind of been out of focus these past few years. People need to stop and think a bit about what they say/do. Hopefully Tony will do more self-reflecting and I hope Diego gets a clue and some appreciation. Cheers for the rest of weekend. There’s a lot to process after this week’s shocking event and think baby steps will be the norm for some time-undoing what has transpired won’t happen overnight.

Luckily, we’re a very resilient race since, we get up off the mat no matter what. I guess we didn’t expect to see this type of selfish, wanton behavior in our lifetime, and I’m speaking of the Capitol Riots. Thank you.

First things first, that photo looks DELICIOUS, especially since my current cup of coffee is flying solo.
You just never know how a small gesture can make a big impact. We all need more of this right now.
